Welcome to Pulford Lower School
‘Growing God's family through faith, hope and love, dedicated to realising the full potential of each other.’
"Leaders at Pulford Lower School have built an inspiring and joyful community in which everyone is enabled to flourish." (SIAMS)
We are a happy, inspiring and supportive school where children enjoy learning. We provide a warm, family environment for about 250 girls and boys of all abilities, in which they can develop to their fullest potential, both academically and socially. Our team of highly dedicated staff provide children with an exciting and thematic curriculum which motivates and inspires our children to develop a lifelong love of learning.
Pulford is in a very convenient and attractive location. Surrounded by fields and trees, it has a countryside atmosphere right in the centre of Leighton Buzzard. Children come to the school from all over the town and surrounding area. By the time they leave at the age of 8 or 9, Pulford pupils are confident, considerate, compassionate and self-disciplined young people with the academic and social skills they need to meet their full potential and make a positive contribution to society.
As the oldest school in Leighton Buzzard, Pulford has a rich heritage. It is named after Joshua Pulford, a vicar of the town who died in 1710, leaving provision in his will for education of the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice. This relationship between church and school endures. The Christian faith underpins our approach to educating and nurturing the children, and we have a close association with All Saints Church particularly.
We aim to service our community by encouraging an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith, and promoting Christian values through the experience we offer to all our pupils.
Recognising its historic foundation, our school preserves and develops its religious character in accordance with the principles of the Church of England and in partnership with the Church at parish and diocesan level. We take all that is best from Pulford’s history and tradition to move forward with a progressive vision for our future.
This website aims to give you a taster of the school, as well as providing regular updated information for both parents and pupils. Please go on to our Parent Information tab to find out more information including our ethos and values, and practical details about our school day. For many, this will be your first experience of Pulford School, and whilst we have tried to illustrate the diversity, opportunity for challenge, supportive and caring ethos that the school prides itself upon, there is nothing like visiting us in person and sampling the unique, welcoming and warm atmosphere for yourself.
Please feel free to contact the school office (Mrs Nicholls) directly on 01525 372188 to book your visit. If you would like to discuss any Special Educational Needs please call and ask to speak to Mrs Tessa Rees (Deputy Head Teacher and SENCo).
We look forward to meeting you.
